For Cripe’s Sake

What is the “rolling of the die” that Merry Lynn and I were discussing, you might ask? Well, it’s one of my patented attempts to further randomize my Sims 3 Legacy Experience. In reference to determining the number of offspring, it’s pretty self-explanatory, if you think about it.

On a side note, I was googling the phrase “for cripe’s sake” and came across the following on Snopes.com. While falsely attributed to Andy Rooney, I found it rather humorous all the same.

Andy Rooney on Cripes: My wife’s from the midwest. Very nice people there. Very wholesome. They use words like ‘Cripes’ – ‘For Cripe’s sake.’ Who would that be, Jesus Cripes? The son of ‘Gosh’ of the church of ‘Holy Moly’? I’m not making fun of it. You think I wanna burn in ‘Heck’?

Toodles!

Happiness is Inherent

After much debate, I’ve decided to choose my heir for the successive generations based upon each candidate’s Lifetime Happiness. The next victim will be determined by whichever offspring reaches young adulthood with the highest point total.

To me, this seems like a pretty fair method. And though I can skew the results by favoring one child with regards to daily happiness, fulfilling wishes, etc., that honestly requires a bit more premeditation than I feel I’m up for.

While I liked the idea of running a poll, the logistics were simply not feasible. Seeing as I play at least one week ahead of what I’m writing, and allowing at least a few days for the voting… Well, the problem is obvious.

Yeah, I know. Way too much thought. Not that anyone cares, either.

Happy Friday the 13th!

My Simmer Sucks

Some basic info about Merry Lynn’s life, in case you’re interested: Yes, I did indeed relocate “Uncle” Lucky from Riverview to Twinbrook. I left the lot intact, with the exception of replacing the terrain paint and flora to better match the new ‘hood. Why? Because I can!

And a call-out to Gargantua: I totally put another shot in there this week, just for you!

On a personal note, I would like to take a moment to gripe about the fact that my own personal “Simmer” has apparently disengaged my post-coital preggers chime. Though we have only been actively trying for a little over a month now, I am finding it a very frustrating endeavor. Frustrating, in that it has not been an immediate success. My husband, as you can guess, is simply enjoying the ride.

Later!

Breakin’ from Tradition

In the words of one of my childhood heroes: “Let me ‘splain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up.”

As the title suggests, this is obviously not your standard “Sims 3 Legacy Challenge.” Rather, it’s a creative stroll through the twisted byways of my imagination, as applied to the game. It just so happens to follow several generations, but there are no stringent rules to follow or points to track.

I have, however, been inspired by reading several other legacy blogs to deviate from my normal style of game play. For the most part, my Sims end up living an idealized version of my life. That is, they stay at home and pursue what I would pursue, blissfully unaware of the world around them.

Realizing how much of the game and its features this has left relatively unexplored, I have created several lists, which I fully intend my “heirs” to work through over the generations. I’ve also decided to leave a lot of the game to chance, such as rolling traits and finding mates from within the community. This goal-oriented approach, I hope, will keep me from arbitrarily abandoning or destroying Miss Merry Lynn Perkins and her (soon to be) extended family.

That said, my only purpose here is my own amusement, and perhaps yours.

Enjoy!
